Part of our team
We have two other members as well as an impressive array of expert freelancers.
Our team translates financial, juridical, scientific, technical and general texts from French to English. We have acquired our mastery of English and French by living and studying in one of the finest bilingual environments on the planet. Not only is Québec City a mainly French-speaking enclave in a sea of English; it is also the seat of a government dedicated to preserving the French language. Consequently, English vis-à-vis French terminology is studied in a kind of detail unmatched anywhere in the world. Translation runs in the veins of the area's Anglophone population. One of the greatest riches of our team is the Québec linguistic database, combined with expertise acquired in other nations.
Our work involves many steps in the translation process: research, translation, revision, re-reading (often twice or more often for voluminous texts), and page proofs. A number of people may be involved in the process. Revision and rereading are done by certified translators/revisors. Our standards are exacting and our methods meticulous. We keep master phrase databases, along with a separate phrase database for each client (see Rosetta for an example). This ensures consistency and top-calibre wordsmithing.
Naturally, our client list is confidential, but amongst our clients are government agencies, banking institutions, advertizing agencies, the aerospace industry, programming firms and many others throughout Canada and the United States.
Just a few of our specialties are accounting, copywriting, speechwriting, press releases and letters.
Our rates are competitive, ranging between 18 and 23 cents per word, depending on complexity and deadlines. They are typically based on an MS Word word count in the source-language document. On request, we provide a proposal with prices and time frames. We do have minimum page charges, especially for slogans and copy.
