Over the
years, I have developed a number of software programs that have reached a
certain maturity. Because I use them all the time, there should be a market for
them and I will be offering them at low cost ($10 or less, up to $100 for business
applications) in the near future. There is no cost for trial versions. If you
decide to buy (via PayPal), the registration process is simple. Here’s a
sampling:
Igor is a chess editor and reader with
which you can copy chess articles from the Web. It parses the text and displays
the positions from all variations and subvariations.
It is also a database, so you can save the articles or write your own. It’s
perfect for keeping chess notes (for notes of a more general nature, see CosmosMundo,
below). You can copy positions and text to a word processor. It has quite a few
useful functions, including chess engine capabilities.
With CosmosMundo, you
can keep notes with extremely rapid and intuitive access. It’s got a basic text
editor and all notes are stored in a database. It combines the hierarchical and
the relational. I use it to organize my programming and many other things – I
store code in it, annotate my work, do my taxes. I simply don’t lose anything
with it. For example, when doing my company taxes once a year, I consult CM to recall how to do it and update it
as necessary. Its cross-referencing facilities are very useful in this regard.
Monshu – not yet available
I wanted
to keep a database for the growing mound of passwords I have. CosmosMundo
would have been fine for the purpose except that the passwords would be too
easy to hack. With Monshu,
you enter password information which is encrypted and stored. When accessing
this information, Monshu
displays it as an image rather than as decrypted text. This increases the level
of security, though I can’t guarantee that it’s bulletproof. The user has a say
in the encryption.
Sudodoo – not yet available
Sudodoo solves Sudoku puzzles. I guess
this goes against the idea of Sudoku, but maybe you would like some of the more
clerical work done automatically while you go on to more complex tasks. After
all, how much of a challenge is it to do the most basic tasks? Sudodoo has a
number of solving algorithms, from the simplest to some that are quite
complicated. Sudodoo
can guide you through any step that gives you trouble.

This is a
Weekly Sales Report application. It keeps track of weekly or bi-weekly sales by
representative, division, advertising medium and product. It is extremely
indicative of company activity and should correlate very well with a good
accounting system, giving an advance view of your company’s performance. You
can use it to determine commissions.
Accounting – not yet available
The
accounting suite is a set of linked HTML and Java applications.
You begin
with a basic General Journal, which has a Chart of Accounts, the Journal, the
Ledger, basic company information and Reports (Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, Income Statement): Basic
Then, you
can acquire in any order any of the following applications: Billing,
Purchasing, Checking, Recurring – the Recurring applications
serve for transactions that recur, such as fixed salaries or monthly payments
and anything else that recurs and is mostly unchanging with each entry.
