Igor
Igor
is a chess editor and reader with which you can copy chess articles from the
Web. It parses the text and displays the positions from all variations and subvariations. It is
also a database, so you can save any articles you keep or write yourself. It’s
perfect for keeping chess notes (for notes of a more general nature, see CosmosMundo). You can copy
diagrams and text from it to a word processor. It has quite a few useful
functions including chess engine capabilities.
Compatibility
This is a Windows application that works with XP and
up. It has not been tested on versions preceding XP. If you have an earlier
version of Windows, please let us know if it works.
Version 5.3.0.6 (if your
computer has security measures preventing the downloads below, go to Options section further down)
You need to download the full installation only once.
When running the program for the first time, you will be prompted to buy an access code. The program will generate
an ID Code
for you to send us and we will return the Access Code to you on reception of payment of
$35. Without the access code, you can still use the program for up to 25
records.
Upgrades
Most upgrades are free. Major upgrades will cost. The
title bar tells you the version number. If the upgrade has a higher version
number, then you should upload it and replace the older file with it. Igor is normally installed in the C:\Program
Files\IJB\IG directory, though this setting can be overruled during the
full installation. Upgrades don’t require re-registration.
